What this policy covers

This policy describes how ScrollChef handles information when you use the service. ScrollChef is operated by Quiet Oak Labs LLC in Virginia, USA.

Information we handle

• Account information, including the email address and authentication information you provide to create or access an account.
• An email address if you ask to hear when the iOS app is ready. We use it only for that availability update.
• Source links you submit and the recipe data generated from or edited for those links, such as ingredients, instructions, titles, and saved-cookbook status.
• Written recipe text that you choose to paste for cleanup, and an optional source link you provide. We do not fetch that website; the link records where you found the recipe.
• Essential service and security logs. ScrollChef does not currently use analytics beyond essential server logs.
• If you request public sharing, the recipe title, source link, request time, and review status. We use this only to decide whether the recipe can be shared publicly. If we block an account from public sharing for safety or policy reasons, we keep the account identifier, block time, and reviewing staff email for that moderation purpose.
• If you report a public recipe, the selected reason, optional report details, and report time. We do not require a reporter account or contact information. We use this only to review the shared recipe and clear the optional details when that review is complete.
• To keep the service reliable and prevent abuse, we keep a limited internal record of each recipe-processing attempt. It may include what happened and service-provider usage information when available. It is not public and is linked to your account through an internal service identifier while your account is active. We remove that link when we complete account deletion.

How recipe processing works

To turn a submitted source into a recipe, ScrollChef may temporarily process media, audio, captions, transcripts, recipe information, and written recipe text that you explicitly choose to submit for cleanup. OpenAI may process transcription and recipe-structuring inputs for this purpose. We use this information to provide and operate the recipe-extraction service.

Service providers

• OpenAI may process recipe-extraction inputs, including transcription, recipe-structuring, and written-recipe cleanup requests that you explicitly authorize.
• Stripe may process payment information when payment features using Stripe are enabled.
• Resend may deliver service and account emails.
• Cloudflare may provide edge, security, and delivery services.

Cookies and session storage

ScrollChef uses essential cookies or equivalent session storage to keep you signed in, protect account sessions, and keep recipe previews private. We do not currently use advertising or behavioral analytics cookies.

No-account recipe previews

When available, our demo uses an essential browser cookie with a 48-hour expiration to keep your preview private and enforce the daily demo limit. We use limited browser and network markers and processing records to prevent repeated requests and control costs. We do not use these records for advertising.

Your recipe preview expires after 30 minutes even if the cookie is still present. We clear its source link and recipe after expiry or after you save it to your verified account. Limited abuse-prevention and cost records remain. A recipe saved to your cookbook follows the account retention and deletion rules below.

Retention, exports, and deletion

You can export individual recipes and your saved cookbook from available in-app export controls. Finished recipes may remain available after paid extraction access ends so you can review and export your work.

Signed-in, verified account holders can choose either immediate deletion or a scheduled request from Account & privacy. Immediate deletion removes the account and associated account data promptly after confirmation. A scheduled request has a 28-day waiting period before processing can begin. We do not cancel an Apple or Stripe subscription when an account is deleted; cancel it through the provider first. If you cannot sign in, email deleteme@scrollchef.app from the account email address.

We retain only limited billing, legal, fraud-prevention, and deletion-audit records when required to meet those obligations or protect the service. We remove the link between our recipe-processing usage ledger and your account when deletion completes.

Age requirement

ScrollChef is not intended for children under 13. Do not use the service if you are under 13.
